Oil consumption

I have a 2019 C300 and it had its first service at around 15k miles. I had to put a litre of oil in about a month prior to the service as it was low. Now I'm on about 17.5k and the oil level is down to about 1/3 of the dipstick on the dash.

Is this normal as it seems a bit excessive to me on a brand new car or am I deluded? My 3.0 Z4 on 150k miles has similar consumption but it's 17 years old and on lunar mileage!

That’s not normal. Bring it to a dealer. Mine doesn’t consume at all or 1/4 dipstick at most every 10k miles.

I waited until the car said it needed a service, which was about 15k yea.
So far I've checked it and it's gone back to full and then today it's halfway down the gauge. Who knows how much it's actually used, I wish it had a dipstick!

1 L per 1,000 km is normal. Higher for brand new cars or when you drive on high revs. The car is 2019 why dont you call your dealer. Let them fix it if there is something wrong or top it up. MB oil is not cheap. I just paid 500 usd for service B. 7 L of oil + oil filter + "service B check up". The attached picture is taken from MB service

book.

They decided it doesn't need break fluid change. I rarely drive this car. Only weekends 1 day/week. Short trips. So if they added break flush my invoice will go up to 700 usd 🤷

I would definitely get the oil consumption documented in the service history. All auto manufacturers spec a large amount of oil consumption as "normal". It's not. The declaration of normal is a CYA move. More than a quart or liter in under 10K miles is not normal under typical driving conditions and may be evidence of an engine problem. The dealer will do very little besides inspect the vehicle but it's important to document these issues in case a failure happens outside of warranty. The documentation allows you to argue that the problem manifested within the warranty period.

Well as an update it's booked into Mercedes next week. Oil display on the dash shows as below minimum with "Add 1l of oil" underneath. Weirdly I've had no warnings or anything, wouldn't even know if I hadn't checked it!
