Everyone here is saying the spark gap should be 0.028, but I've heard it's actually 0.8mm (0.032). (as in the video above) Which is it?

you can use any 14mm deep socket, you don't even need a swivel end there is plenty of room in the C400. I used a magnet grabber to place them back in and then torqued with a socket. You'll need a torque wrench that does in/lb instead of ft/lb.

Technically all spark plugs come pre gapped.

The question is whether it is the correct gap size.

Yep this. The only cases I have seen where plugs are truly pre-gapped and should not be adjusted are ones like the Iridium or Platinum tipped long-life type. The Iridium or Platinum coating can be damaged in the gapping process and affect the performance/longevity of the electrodes.

Did mine yesterday. The old plugs were 0.028 gap and the new ones also came pre gapped at 0.028. Mystery solved. I got 5 more HP!

Anyone know the part number of the rubber grommet around that hose? Mine is torn and the hose is loose. I wrapped some felt tape around it for now.

my grommet broke long time back as well, but so far no issues, as both the lines which connect are hard lines.

Checked in EPC, part number is A002 998 14 01, FEED-THROUGH GROMMET

New OEM plugs going into the car soon.
These plugs came pre-gapped from 0.022 to 0.026 inches. I guess regardless of whether they are OEM or not one has to check for the correct gap.
Correct gap should be 0.028".
Torque to 23 Nm.

While the electric drive is amazingly smooth, and the engine runs well...with mostly seamless transitioning in and out of gas/electric, the idle seems rough and on occasion the motor kicks in a bit abruptly.

I've read the TSB where MB changed their recommended spark plug replacement interval now to 30K (vs 46K). One previous owner at 55K complained that his plug broke and damaged the engine, requiring replacement .

I understand that the multi-spark plugs are actually used far more intensely (~10X) than traditional plugs, and am wondering if others here have seem premature wear of the OEM plugs. Ive also noticed that MB changed the plug part number from the NGK 90654/0041597003 to the new NGK 2701590700.

Bottom line for me is that I am thinking to replace the plugs at 23K, with the new OEM part...and wanted to hear if others had any experience to share about their spark plug condition and difficulty to change the plugs with respect to indexing and torquing to the right specs. Seems relatively straight forward, and worth the $75 insurance to change early in my opinion.

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinay
New spark plug # is 2401590700 is correct. I just bought today for my C300, 2015.

There must be something seriously wrong with so many W205 C300 had misfired issues.

They change new spark plug for reason.

Hopefully this fix my misfiring cylinder 1 on my 2015 and 2016 C300.

Very disappointed with MBZ.

Bringing this back to the surface.

Changed the wife’s plugs on her glc300 yesterday. Just under 4 years (since purchase, probably 4 years to the date of the assembly line). 49,6xx miles.

plugs weren’t coming out “smooth”. Little bit of roughness and squeaking like they were going to get stuck in there if I left them in longer. Compared to my e300 I posted pictures of the plugs above at 3 years and roughly half this mileage , seems the corrosion (maybe from mixed metal copper washer) just works it’s way up the plug over time.

no wonder people break plugs sometimes when removing these. Note to self - change in the 3 year/50k mile intervals per that w205 bulletin
