Navigation Control Knob Assembly Refresh
I was happy to find that the touch pad could be disabled in the system settings, but then I discovered that, starting in 2017, M-B made a version of the control assembly that does away with the whole touch pad "diving board" piece all together.
M-B part number A2059006115. I got lucky and found a NOS one in the box on eBay for $50.
So here is the before:

Otherwise it works exactly like the original, included the Back and Favorite (star) buttons.
3. There are six more T20 screws to remove, in this order:
- Two screws closest to the edge where the touch pad connector is located
- Two screws holding the cupholder/ashtray compartment in place
- Two more screws holding the opposite end of the knob assembly
4. Once all of the screws are out, the knob assembly pulls out from the back.
5. Reinstall following these steps in reverse (always wanted to say that!)
Mine did not come with new left/right switch packs so I transferred my old ones over to the new part. The tabs that hold the switch packs in are VERY thin, so be extremely careful not to snap them off when releasing. If they get damaged then your buttons will be loose!

Do you know if the controller can be released from that frame? My C180 is manual, and it is a little bit different. It doesn't have the side buttons. Although I'd love to swap it in mine. Thanks,
