W205 o/s drl
Hi all just joined up here and glad I've found this site cos I'm pulling my hair out here's my my problem
i bought a second hand w205 amg line estate no longer under warranty and the drivers side drl is much dimmer compared to the passenger side.. I've changed the drl unit for another one I bought but it's the same..
anyone able to give me any ideas

Mine has just died completely, getting warning messages for drl and for parking light which I assume is the same unit. Can't find fuse location on fuse sheet. By chance I have a spare headlight so I am able to use that for test purposes but that doesn't work either. Could it possibly be something in the car or be that aluminium unit with fins that is fastened on the back of the headlight?

No it's nothing in the car and I've just changed the aluminium unit for one I bought on eBay.. But perhaps that one may have same fault ? The only two other things I'm thinking of trying is swapping over with the working one and see if it's the same... Or getting a rod to clean the drl passage way.. That's all I can think of trying at the moment.

I've just removed the aluminium finned unit from the headlight to try an untested spare one that I had. That didn't fix it. I will try the one from the other side because I know that definitely works.I did examine a none working one and upon removing the circuit board I found that it sits on a white insulating pad. A very small area of this pad is discoloured, would that be evidence of a fault?
