Easy center console mod to increase storage space

Thread number two on easy W205 mods to increase usability and look cool at the same time.

I hate when everything is just thrown together at the bottom of the console storage and you have to dig through everything to find some of the things you use a lot. This mod is super easy and costs about fifteen dollars if you have a Dremel or cutting tool.

Step 1

Buy
one of these one of these
(which is awesome but you can't see what's stored underneath it, so...)

Step 2

Cut out the bottom of the main compartment with a Dremel cutting disc (weird lighting, my interior is saddle brown):

Step 3

Place finished product in center console

Before:

After, with split-level storage:

At night with console light:

$15 and about 30 minutes to cut the hole cleanly.
Hope this helps!

Looks great man! If you installed the piece as-is would you have access to any of the USB outlets? Or would you have to raise it up every time to get to them? Thanks!

Thanks.

You have to lift it out every time. That's another one of the reasons I did the cut-through.

that notch looking part in the middles is a cord passthrough, i have the same tray. It's not bad, but it gets kinda creaky.

I brought the same center council holder for my C300, that is a very good idea what you have done.
I might just have to copy your mods.
Thanks! great job =)
