Something smells wrong...

So, I'm trying to buy a 2016 C350e. Found one I like at a Mercedes dealership, BUT there is something that bugs me and doesn't make sense. It claims to have the Premium 1 package, which I believe comes with the upgraded Burmester speakers. I have looked at 100s of there (yes, I'm a little OCD) and it immediately surprised me that the speakers in the pictures, while they do say Burmester, are very shiny. Like a mirror polish. That struck me as odd, because all of the ones I have seen were rather matte looking.

But the real off thing are the back doors. Not only does one of them not have the silver cover anymore, which appears to have broken off, there is only one speaker in each door. But the Burmester has 2 speakers in each rear door. So are they lying about this, and did someone just get cosmetic covers to make them look like it has the Burmester speakers? Was there some super rare time period when these looked like this? I don't know, but even though they are an MB dealer, something doesn't smell right to me here. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. See attached pictures.

According to mbdecoder.com your vehicle is equipped with the base Audio 20 system and not Burmester (nor COMAND).

Looks like someone slapped some aftermarket speaker covers in there at some point.

Good catch. Those are also not correct door inserts, there was no burlwood option I'm aware of.

Its a used car so I guess the previous owner threw a Burmester cover that does not mean the dealership is cheating on you. Unless they confirmed to you that the car has the Burmester system then yes they indeed provided misleading information.

The dealer has instant access to the data card. Ask to see it. It's a Mercedes build sheet for the car and shows every option and respective code. Anything else is speculation.

We saw the data card it shows Audio2O. The question is did the dealer told our friend that the car is Burmester 🤷

The data card by Mercedes. Over the years I've compared online ones to the one printed out by Mercedes, and second-party ones were missing items.

A gaggle of MB's
Any neophyte MB salesperson or internet sales can be thrown off by seeing the China-Burmester speaker covers -

Attached is the MB spec sheet - there aren't any surpRises here - the MB VMI Master Service Record - and MSRP if you want to purchase PPD Service Package.

I haven't checked the CarFax - that's on you - it had a couple of wheel scrapes (common) that were repaired.

C350e's are excluded from Mercedes CPO - so you need to "ask" .. also ask about condition of the tires... stuff like this is on you

Nice color combo - if a C350e is "your thing" - then no "smell" here - you can order a "set" of the "Burmester" covers from Amazon - eBay - Aliexpress - they fasten well with the 3M double-sided tape they have - and don't affect sound quality one bit..

Mercedes Thousand Oaks shows they have a Cardinal Red - the only other Cardinal that shows in the MB system at the moment - see the attached spec sheet - "maybe" they plan to wholesale their's because frankly C350E's are rare - but not "really" in demand..
