Navi icon with posted speed limit....
I am looking at upgrading my navi system on a 2017 C300 (with command). What I am really hoping to get is the icon on the screen that shows the posted speed limit. I am assuming that that is available, as I have had it on other cars (Hyundai most recently). Can anyone confirm that the MB navi system on newer models does have this icon??

That function is part of Traffic Sign Assist. It's described in your owner's manual on page 197. Not sure how that was bundled/packaged in Canada for MY17, but it's typically part of the driver assist package and upgrading your navi won't do anything. MY17 already had that option if the car was ordered with it. It looks like for MY17 it's purely based on the map data. In later model years it uses the stereo cameras in the windshield to recognize the actual traffic signs in the real world and only uses the map data if there was no traffic sign detected for the current speed limit. I have the camera based system in my 2019 C63S coupe and it works very well. It detects school zones and other traffic signs as well, along with temporary recommended speeds for off and on-ramps etc.

Thanks for the comments. Looks like the traffic sign is available only as part of the driver assist package, as you suggest superswiss. On the other hand, I am hopeful that an upgraded navi package might just have that feature. It is really part of the navi database, as you suggest, and as mikey53 notes, it is available.
As a possible alternative, does anybody know if this part of the driver assist package can be added on to existing system?? Car does have "Command".

C200 estate 2019 AMG line premium plus.
I have the speed limit show up on my 2017 C300h.
It doesn't have the driver assist package and uses the Garmin map pilot on audio 20.
This has been a recent development which I can only assume was an over the air update.
