Wheel size for c300 4matic 2016

Hello, I own c300 4matic w205 2016, which came with staggered 18' wheels. Can I use 17' wheels rear and front on this car. Dealership said to use only staggered 18'.

I own a '15 C400, which is a very similar car except larger engine. Last winter, I put ~6,000 miles on my winter setup (17" W204 C300 wheels) with no issues. They'll barely clear the calipers (assuming yours is a sport model). That said, I bought a set of 18" wheels yesterday for this upcoming winter just because they look better and I prefer the car to not sit that low during winter.

Thanks. Is yours 4matic? I don' t know i mine is sport model, it has 7-speed amg transmission. I've read that same size wheels cause damage to transmission in long term, if factory car is set for staggered. Is that the case?

Yes, mine is 4Matic. Also, your wheels aren't staggered in terms of diameter, they are staggered in terms of width.

You're right, my mistake! Looks like there's a little over 1% delta from the factory, I thought I've heard these cars can go up to like 3% or something before.

So is it possible to use 17'? I can't imagine it will harm transmission in any way, considering base models go with square 17.

I see 0 reason why 17's would make a difference? As long as their diameters are within 3% of eachother. People put 20" wheels on 4Matics, I don't see why smaller would cause any harm?

Make sure if your have monoblock calipers from sports package, the new 17" spokes clears them. Some with bad offset will hit your calipers.

So I tried 17' wheel and mechanic said there's less than 0.5cm between the wheel and caliper, and that it can hit wheel on bad road. So I don't know what to think)))

Get different 17" spoke design or offset. Better yet, get 18" winter rims like I have for my c43.

I live in Ukraine, and with our roads it is pain in the *** to drive on 18".)) as mister above wrote he had 17" on c400 that barely cleared calipers and he was good., so I guess I just have to try it.

Fyi- you can run 17s- the oem 17s on the base mode will fit with the sport calipers.
