Touchpad Issue on W205
Hello,
I've noticed that my touchpad is not working, only bottom middle click works, I went to MB dealer and they said that computer diagnostic didn't return any errors on touchpad, and it may be that something is in touched that is preventing it to click but regardless I need to replace it and it costs near $700.
Have you any experience with this, is there any other way to fix it? Can I replace current one with used one from another MB?
Are you using touchpad a lot is it worth paying 700$?

Your Dealer frankly is a Rip-Off - a "failed" touch pad is not unusual - has happen - a competent Service Advisor would check in the Vehicle settings that the Touchpad is activated - in case it has been accidently "unchecked" - then do a "soft reset" - if that doesn't restore it then the touchpad needs to be replaced - there is NO DIAGNOSTIC ERROR for a bad Touchpad. "Some" dealers might go the extra step and download/re-install the console software - but most don't for a MB that is out-of-warranty since that download /install could take 2 1/2hrs.
eBay generally has "used" touchpads - but make sure you buy one with a Seller Warranty in case it's dead too - since these are pulled from dead/salvage MB's - so the seller "assumes" it to work but doesn't really know. God sellers will give you warranty/return privilege's.

Today while I was driving touchpad magically start working, but after I made a stop(after 2 hours) I start the car again and it is not working again.
That made me to a conclusion that maybe there is a software issue, touchpad get locked (like when car is OFF).
So I presume that touchpad is not physically damaged.

A soft reset doesn't erase anything

I have found that the heat produced by the action of direct sunlight can cause the touchpad to stick and not work. Perhaps because its internal parts expand in the heat. That is my theory. If it is stiff and you force it, it may break. Anyone want to check it out please?
