W205 Electric Boot Lid Issues
Hi
I have a Mercedes C220 (W205) and when I open boot lid it only opens about 6 inches, if I hold my finger on boot latch it then fully opens with a little assistance. Will then fully close using button on bottom of boot lid.
I have had fault codes read with a Launch and we get fault code (B188229) Position Sensor.
Is there a way to reset this or do I need to book in to a Mercedes Dealer?
Car is 4 years old with only 17000 miles from new.
Thanks

As originally posted after code reading the fault says position sensor (invalid signal) anybody had similar?
I have no time to repair until Wednesday but will report my findings back here. 🙈

If you get access to the boot lid lifter there are 2 electrical plugs there.
The plug with the 3 wires had 2 broken wires please see picture.

You can access this plug without moving the motor. Hope this helps you.

Hi D Green,
Just wanted to say I finally got round to looking at mine today and it was exactly the same problem so thank you! You’ve saved me a trip to the garage.
thanks again, Sam

Partial tailgate open problem resolved
I found this thread helpful to diagnose and my partial open tailgate issue.
I removed and replaced Easypack maxi fuse 464 and this seems to have reset the electric tailgate opener.
it now works perfectly without having to repair any wiring. Problem seems to have been caused by weak gas struts which I replaced before finding the fuse 464 solution.

Guys how do I access the boot lid to find the wires? Are there any pictures? Is it near the fuse or where the reverse camera?
My troubles are the boot opens completely but after pressing the close button the boot lid closes 30% then 80% and finally 100%
