Hello, I really need some help. I just got a 2020 C63s sedan last month. It sounds absolutely great, but I noticed it doesn't pop / burble like the 2018 models. I have the AMG performance exhaust.
Is there any specific burble tune I can add on this car or something? I don't really want to do cat less downpipes because of service and the possibility of voiding my warranty.
If anyone can please help me with some suggestions it would greatly be appreciated.
There are already plenty of threads on this subject, so do a search. The gist of it is that with the ever stricter noise regulations in Europe, the pops&bangs are gone for normal driving. It started with the 2019s and it's for the better IMO. The pops&bangs were completely artificial before. They technically serve a purpose. They keep the turbos spooling during brief off throttle moments, so that's useful when driving the car hard, but in daily driving they are only annoying most bystanders. Too many young drivers in major German cities have been terrorizing residents popping, banging and farting through the cities until the residents demanded action from their representatives and here we are. It always only takes a few to ruin something for everybody else. The 2019+ C63 still pops&bangs if you drive it hard above 4000 rpm, where they serve an actual purpose to make the car more responsive. The valved exhausts used to be a legal workaround for car manufacturers to offer a louder exhaust, because the noise limits only had to be met with the valves closed. Now they have to be met with the valves open, because the loophole got abused. I personally prefer the sound of my 2019 C63S Coupe over the older models. The sound quality is better and it's proportional to how hard I drive the car.
Thanks for the reply. I do agree with the quality being better, but I do miss the pops when downshifting the 2018 one that I borrowed for a week. Is there any tune you'd recommend to add a little bit of pops? I don't want downpipes either because it's too excessive and as I mentioned, they can void my warranty. I don't want to change too much of the noise because it sounds absolutely great. The V8 on these sound completely different than the BMW
You should do secondary cat deletes and a resonator delete.
That's a good idea, thank you. Do you know if it sounds good? Have you heard it in person? I just don't want to lose the raw v8 sound and have it sound like an M8 for example.
