Hi All,
New member here from Sydney and new to Mercedes ownership. We just traded our BMW 328 on a 2016 build C43. sedan. Wonderful car, and still learning all the little quirks.
The only major issue I can see at the moment is when pushing the start button and the steering wheel moves from its rested position to the pre set memory position, there is quite a noticeable thud/knock coming from the column.
If you go to replicate it immediately, it won't occur. the car needs to be off for at least a few hours, and it only happens the first time .the wheel moves
The car has 2 year factory backed warranty, so I'm not to fussed right now, though is this a common issue ?

There was a thread awhile ago with steering wheel pin/bolt malfunctioning. Have a look few pages back.

Is it a thump or a thud?
Hard to describe. If anything I'd say a clunk.
