Rear brakes DIY question
Tried to replace my rear pads today. No problem putting the caliper piston in “Fitting” mode. The problem is I could not fit the caliper/piston around the new pads no matter what angle I tried. Amy tricks I should know?

Did you compress the caliper piston fully back into the caliper? Which tool did you use? Please post a photo of the tool. Thanks.

Normally I would either use a typical piston compressor, or put a pad back in the caliper and use 12” adjustable pliers to squeezer the piston back into the caliper. But not this time. I am concerned that since it’s part of the e-brake mechanism and so connected to a motor, screw, etc I’m worried about damaging that motor. So I didn’t use any tools.

You need to compress the piston back into the caliper. You need a tool. The Lile tools at, for example, Pep Boys, work well.
