W205 C300 Oil Change and Cabin Air filter Change - DIY
Hi Guys,
I have bought a Mityvac 7400 vacuum oil extractor. It sucked out 7 Qt. Changed the oil filter. Could fill up 7.2 Qt. It was the easiest thing to do.
Let me come to the hardest part. Changing the cabin air filter on the passenger side under the glove box.,,,,Man...Its the worst location and terrible to put the new one back. I have bough it from autozone STP brand.. I could see the quality difference between original and this replacement. Can't be compared with OEM.

While I was resetting the A7 service remainder, it listed Service 01,03, 20. I just did the google search and found 20 means transmission oil change. My car has only 33K, 2016 model. I thought 40K is trans oil change time. How easy to change trans oil by DIY? Any insights?

You need a special tool the change the oil in the transmission plus.. make sure you get it from Mercedes and don't use any other brand.

The cabin air filter under the passenger foot well is annoying to replace. That’s why dealers charge like $199 to replace it I guess. But it can be done yourself. Hardest part is removing the panel under the dashboard. Though I wonder if it really needs to be done every 20k. Could probably easily extend out to 30-40k. Amazon has a nice filter by Pureflow that felt even better quality than the OEM quality for half the price that I just used.
The transmission service isn’t listed in the 2015 maintenance schedule but I did it at 60-70k. The 2016 recommends it around then unless you have AMG. The fill procedure is a bit complicated since there is no dipstick. Some independent transmission shops said they could do it since the transmission is common among many Mercedes. It was only a little cheaper so I ended up going with dealer at around $600 since it didn’t seem straightforward. The fluid and filter are around $200 alone.
Maybe next time I’ll try an independent guy. But definitely use OEM spec fluid and filter. Also there is blue and red fluid for the same transmission so make sure the independent guy is using the right fluid for the right year.

Mine is not AMG. Its 2016 C300 4matic. I checked the service manual. It says to change transmission oil only at 60,000 miles. But, why the service code 20 was listed in my Assist plus service remainder? It''s kind of confusing. I don't want to do it if it not required.

If it’s out of warranty it’s up to you but sounds like a good idea to think about over the next few months/year if you plan to keep car. The preventive maintenance schedule will keep your car out of major trouble.
