Cleaning/conditioning steering wheel and wood trims?

Hello all! So I’m a proud new owner and I had some questions. On one side of the steering wheel, it seems to have worn a bit. I was wondering if anyone had any advice to address/clean/protect it from getting worse?

also there seems to be spot of...nail polish or something...any thoughts on how I can maybe clean it off without damaging the wood?

thanks for any and all help!
