Pano Glass on Highway

Hi All,

I have 2018 c300 with Pano roof option. I like to keep it open on most nice days. I do a lot of highway driving at 80mph. When I look back sometimes at the piece of glass hanging when the roof is open at high speed i can see the glass waving up and down. Am I to trust the integrity of this and just keep on ? Should I be worried for a potential future catastrophe?

I dont open it if I'm driving above 25mph to be honest ..
it's risky since it's glass.. anything can fly and hit it on the highway.

Never thought about it, but if it was a problem they would have programmed it such that it automatically closes above a certain speed. I honestly never really open it above a certain speed. Just gets way too noisy. I tilt it up sometimes and if you pay attention it actually slightly lowers itself above a certain speed and then raises up again if you fall below that speed. You can hear it, when it does it.

OK now you have me worried. I do a lot of highway driving around 75-80. Never looked back to see what’s happening to the glass. But on a good note I’ve never had any issues. Also have a 2018.

Why worry? Be happy! It’s not going to fly off.

After this thread, you gonna see few w205s on the news "accident on hwy benz travelling 70mph+ crashes into ****, driver dazed and confused and says just looking at the sky"

Yeah not happening. Let the pano fly off from the car, going to try to maintain a straight line and eyes on the road.

I never drive with the roof fully open on the highway. You can see it's hard on wind baffle and you risk breaking that part. I also noticed that when I have the roof tiled, I can see that it closes and opens depending on my speed.
