Additional kph speedo showing and stop/start not fully disabling

Hi guys,

New here so appreciate any help. Has Mercedes done an update without me knowing, since yesterday my instrument cluster shows a digital MPH reading as normal but now also shows a smaller KPH readout just under the stop / start symbol.

Also, my stop / start has been disabled since owning the car, today however it either shows the symbol or doesnt show depending on me pressing the button on centre console, previosuly it would show. line through it but no matter what it shows the car does stop/start and i cant disable at all.

Really confused as it hasnt been to a main dealer and i didnt know the car could update itself, is that a thing or do i have an issue?

Depends how old your car is, mine's 2019 and can auto update, so far only a recall to do with the SOS button. The Mercedes me app will tell if there has been a download.

Under vehicle setting on dashboard, there is setting for additional speedo in kmh which you or someone probably triggered.

It helps if you specify what year your car is as the features and technology is different on 2019+ models vs earlier models. The extra speedo is an option in the settings as stated above, but I'm not sure what's going on with your start/stop. There are many many parameters that play into start/stop, though, that determines whether it actually stops the engine or not. Over the last 15 months some people have found that start/stop basically stopped working, because the car's battery isn't getting charged sufficiently due to lack of driving, and it may even have caused some batteries to fail. As for settings changing or the car updating itself as said that would only be a possibility for 2019+ as they support over-the-air updates, but as said, there's only been one other than map updates to address an issue with the SOS system that resulted in a recall. However, there's also a personalization feature and many of the settings can be synced to your Mercedes me connect account and the settings can be changed in the phone app and then sync back to the car. There seem to have been instances where the settings in the cloud got changed and then they sync'd to the car. If you do have a 2019+ model, then I'd recommend to take a look at your personalization settings and manually sync the car settings to the cloud. They've update the personalization service and my settings in my C63 were out of sync with each other and the app does advice to do a manual sync to get everything working properly again.
