No touchpad?

In the USA where you seem to be located, the touchpad controller is part of the Multimedia Package, which includes navigation etc. You get the jog wheel/touchpad combination. In some other markets specifically China, the facelift is available with the newer touchpad that no longer has a jog wheel.

Haven't looked into it. Frankly the new touchpad sucks in my opinion. I don't even use the current one. The touchpad is a lot of swiping to get something done. Much more efficient with the jog wheel. I actually don't use either much and control most everything using the controls on the steering wheel.

After buying my car and reading through the manual, I played with the touchpad thinking this is so cool! I think that was the last time I touched it, lol. Like superswiss said, the touchpad is pretty much a redundant control that takes more steps and "special movements" to use than just using the primary controls.
I guess if you were trapped in your car and only had your tongue to work with, the touchpad could be super useful.
So... this makes me wonder... I'm curious who here uses the touchpad regularly and finds it useful day-to-day?

The only thing I find it useful for on rare occasions is for the handwriting recognition if I'm trying to enter a destination that I'm either mispronouncing or has a foreign name, and the voice recognition isn't recognizing it. Most times I inadvertently use it by accidentally coming in contact with it and then it does something I didn't intend. For over a year I hadn't even noticed that the back button on the touchpad wasn't working properly. Even though, I'm rarely using it i had them replace the controller under warranty. I hate knowing that something doesn't work as designed, even if I'm not really using it .

That makes sense. Now that I'm thinking of it, I think the only thing I use that whole stack for is; I use the center "window" looking "button" to bring up what's playing from the media drive, then use the jog wheel to change tracks (left and right). That's about all I can think of I use it for.
Oh, and whenever our small dog steps in the center console I use the back button to get out of whatever she "chose" for us.
