Got into a minor fender bender and had to get a headlight replaced among other things. The shop is saying the headlights won’t work without coding. My understanding was If they swapped the control module over everything would work. What am I missing here?

I just replaced one on my 2019 c300 and swapped the original control module onto the new light. Works like a champ. No programming needed.

 

There was actually 2 modules on my light, that I took off the original one to the new one. Just push in connectors and 4 screws holding down the modules. I was advised to try them out before bolting the light back to the car, which I did and it worked fine. There's a youtube for replacing a c300 headlight and there's another youtube for replacing a light and swapping the control modules too....
