Leak in boot/trunk

I have 2018 C class no problems until recently noticed the boot mat damp underneath and some meldew in rear right corner. Took to Mercedes’ and they diagnosed the piece of plastic trim that runs down the right boot channel is held in by 3 nylon clips with rubber ceiling washer under. The middle washer was not seated correctly allowing water in. This trim has not been touched by me but has obviously been leaking for a while. MB wanted me to pay £170 for the part fitted. After a bit of a moan the tech got MB to agree to pay 70%. I was still not happy as I feel it is a build defect or material problem so I am waiting for MB to reply to my email. Car has been checked and apparently it’s ok now. Thought I would say as easy quick check if someone else has a leak to rule this out first.

Not sure if it’s a related problem

but my drain & grommets & seals have been replaced all at different times.

i didn’t have issue in my trunk but in my drivers side “a pillar”
multiple times. The dealer replaced multiple parts and I’m waiting for rainy spring to see if it’s fixed.

Well an update, MB have carried out repairs and agreed to pay 70%. I had to pay £35 so not bad but if it was their fault it should be 100%. It’s the principle here. I have sent them an email. There was a clip to one of the tether brackets loose and not fitted and the bracket was not tightened down. Then to make matters worse they left out the boot mat which I didn’t find out about until I got home.

Now they have lost boot mat.

As I said earlier they didn’t put boot mat back after repair. Now they are denying there was one when I took car in. There’s definitely was. I hope their F1 team is not this slap dash. I have to wait for a manager to phone me now. Watch this space.

Update- Sorted

Not it’s not leaking so must have been the rubber sealing washer faulty. After countless telephone calls to customer service UK which is in Holland, they were no use at all, the dealer (Sytner)I bought the car off did the right thing and delivered a new boot mat eventually. What a shower of **** MB customer service are. Their twitter feed about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

here is a video link to the problem
