C300 Fuel efficiency
Hello All,
What fuel efficiency you get with your C300? I am getting 9.1 litre per 100km. I mostly drive in comfort mode. Not sure if it’s bad.
Anyone drive in sport or sports+ all the time? What’s the fuel efficiency you get?
Regards,
Dhaval

All depends on how you are driving. Official figures are up to 22 mpg for city and up to 31 for highway. So the more city or stop&go you drive the lower it will be. A good source of real world mpg is fuelly. You seem to be right about at the average.

I am getting 7.6/100km in the winter running 4 snows doing highway driving, best was 7.1; city driving is a whole different experience, if I get 12L/100 then I am lucky

I've been getting 31.5 mpg or 7.47 l/100 per tank measured at the pump with 0 highway miles. I always leave it in comfort mode. I didn't buy my car for fuel efficiency and I am surprised by how well it does. This is all suburban/city driving but I go to work very early in the morning and come home before the afternoon rush hour.

But good to know you guys are getting good efficiency.
I think I drive aggressively. I accelerate to cover short distance and then break.

I never really thought about about a strategy, but your post got me thinking. Indeed, I was trying to see how low I could get that number. I was doing everything possible to get it as low as possible. I drove 90% interstate highways at an average of about 75 MPH. At least 10% above the speed limit to keep up with the traffic. I would try to keep a fairly large distance between me and the car in front so as to not have to break whenever they did. I would coast as long as possible. I usually drove in centre lane (where there were 3 lanes) and moved over to fast lane when approaching a busy on ramp to avoid possibly of having to break. I would break only when absolutely necessary, preferring to keep spacing, speed, and lane changes as alternatives to following close to cars in front. I used cruise control whenever possible, but that only amounted to about 10-15 percent of the time due to traffic. Other than my obsession with NOT breaking unless absolutely necessary, that is about it.

Even in the city I do bit of an aggressive driving and break a lot. Gotta change that.

I hope the above picture comes out OK. To add another data bit, Yesterday, I drove from New Hampshire to Nova Scotia on 90% Interstate/100 Series highways. As you can see, the 1000+km drive at avarage 120 KPH (the 100 shown includes stops, etc), and the mileage was 7.2 l/100km. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why mileage was at least 10% worse than previous days! My driving was about the same and similar speeds but with much less traffic. . I use 93 Octane fuel (always do). Weather was coor and terrain was less hilly than previous days, so I thought I might get improved mileage. Not so! The only other difference was an additiional 140 pounds when I picked up my wife in New Hampshire (she flys most of the way much to my relief).
So, other than the additional weight, everything pointed to getting even better mileage. Not sure if that weight would make that much difference so hoping some of the experts on this forum might comment on that. The only other thing I was thinking is that the gas station was actually selling 87 or 90 Octane fuel and calling it 93 Octane??
Would love to hear comments on the issue. Thanks.
