M274 intercooler cooling system

Hi! Does anyone know if the intercooler has a separate cooling system? Or does it use the engine coolant? Was wondering is it pointless to make a separate cooling system for the intercooler?

Thought that I’ll ask here before I start to crack the car open to investigate 🤪

The intercooler shares the same coolant as the main system, it splits off from a secondary water pump and routes to the intercooler, then the trans cooler, then to the front Heat Exchanger, then back to the pump.

Whether or not it is useful (or pointless) to make a separate system depends on what you will add/remove from the system to cool the intercooler better.
