Voice Recognition no longer responds correctly

I've owned a CPO 2019 C 300 for a few days. When I first got it, the voice recognition seemed to work fine. I could say "navigate to <address>" and shortly later it would start the route. I saved my home address as a favorite, and it responded as expected to "Navigate home". I think I also asked it to "navigate to nearest Starbucks" and it came back with a list of addresses to choose from. This was great! Now, today, voice recognition no longer responds appropriately at all. If I say "navigate to home", it comes back with a bunch of street addresses nowhere near but roughly sounding like "home". If I say "navigate to <address> in <city>", it comes back with an unrelated response.

Could something need to be reauthorized? When it was working, the car was still on the original owner's Mercedes.me Connect account. Now it is on my account. Could that be the cause of my issue? I can't think of anything else that has changed. Thanks.

I never say "Navigate home". That's not the correct command. You just say "Home". The "Navigate..." command expects that what follows is a POI, contact or address. In addition to searching its local data when you use the "Navigate..." command, it also does an online search. Occasionally the online search is on the fritz and may return garbage or not work at all and then all you get are the local results. You may or may not know that once it shows the result you can refine it by using the several "Show...." commands. You can say "Show contacts" or "Show online destinations" to narrow down the search results. Usually the online results are a direct hit for me, but it doesn't always default to showing them first, so I have to say "Show online destinations" and then usually the first one is what I was looking for.

Frankly, I don't use this very often. I mostly send my navigation destinations from my phone to the car, then it pops up shortly after I start the car and I can just start the navigation w/o having to first find my destination. Also, the voice recognition system gets regular updates. Each map update includes an update for the voice recognition, but you have to install it manually by going to the portal and download the update files on an SD card or USB stick. The OTA update only install the map data for your home region w/o updating the voice recognition.

I’m sorry you are having a problem.I can’t help you there. However, I can tell you that you should never use “home” as your actual home. If you car is ever stolen or you are ever car jacked. You have told the thieves where you live, and they already know that you aren’t home. If I use home at all,it goes to a police station.
