CPO Value and Scam

So first off some background on the car. I found a 2016 C300 AWD 65K miles listed on a Mercedes dealers site.
The car has a lot of options: dynamic headlights, pano, ventilated seats, and it even had nightshade.
So one less mod I thought was good... I noticed a scratch on the front bumper that looked pretty deep.
I asked the salesman via text and he said he'd take some photos to send. He never did.

When I ask where the photos are he tells me he can't because car is being CPO'd. They had the car listed for sale
and then decide to do a CPO? What a bunch of BS!

So basically they will CPO the car to drive the price up. As you may know, they add retail dealer price for
each service done and not what it costs them. Some dealerships will disclose conditioning work and some
won't. Furthermore the CPO does not cover the pano roof.

I don't know the pano roof failure but it's fairly common.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see the value in CPO. I think it's another way for the dealer to obscenely profit.
In my view, you can buy a warranty that will likely cost less and cover more.

It's probably best for me to wait another year. I had a dealership do a blind trade on 2009 C350 with 146,900 and he offered
2K. Can you believe these b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s? Stepping down from my soapbox.

Stealers are everywhere.
I had one tell me they could cpo the car I was looking at but “it would cost the dealer $4k to certify it, and that would be reflected in the cpo price”
I felt dirty when I left!
and never returned to that dealer

Dealers are greasy scummy scammers. This is simply one example. CPO is meaningless.

That’s absurd. They get parts at wholesale. Maybe they have to pay a fee to Mercedes? I’ll ask Mercedes corporate. But there is nothing forcing them to CPO a car. They can sell a warranty.

I’m not sure I’m going to be entirely happy with a C300 even it’s AWD anyway even though it was listed at 25k. I might hold out for a c450 or C43 and wait for market correction.

I test drove a 2017 C43. That 9 speed is pretty sweet!! The C450 was pretty good too but not as nice as C43 especially on inclines at a stop sign.

The C400 is similar to C450 but the C400 gearbox seemed not quite there with shifts. Maybe there’s an update?

I’ve seen a few C400s loaded for 25 to 27K. 70,000-82K miles. Not as dynamic driving wise but pretty good power.

I’ve also seen a few C300s with dynamic headlights and leather. Certainly the least costly to maintain. More tire life especially for heavy foot..

The FED is going to increase rates again so prices should soften. Probably late this year maybe..
