Unhappy Crazy annoying rattle in passenger seat

I have an insanely annoying rattle in the passenger seat of my 2017 C300. It sounds like it is coming from where the headrest sits into the seat. The sound is like a rattly/springy sound that I can constantly hear at around 20-40 MPH on semi rough surfaces. I can also punch the seat where you're upper back/traps would be and I can hear the rattling noise. The noise also fluctuates with temperature: more prominent with hotter weather and almost quiet in cold weather.

After doing some research, it seems like headrest is the common cause of rattles in the passenger seat. So I removed the headrest and shook it but it appears solid with no loose pieces at all.

I even drove without the headrest and I could still hear the sound.

I believe I am at the point where I need to remove the back shell and investigate where that sound might be coming from.

Before I do that, I was hoping to hear if anyone else has also been having this issue or has any clue as to what it might be...?

Yes common issue, while my 2017 C was still under warranty, it was replaced under warranty and the sound is still there from the headrest. Here is the fix, but I didn't do it on mine as it is an electronic headrest so adds to the complexity https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ml#post7841000

I don't believe the headrest is the issue though. As I said in my original post, I don't hear anything when I shake the head rest and I can still hear the sound when I drive without the headrest.

I am aware that you mentioned "don't hear anything when you shake it" but that is because some forum members did precisely that, took it off and shook it and didn't hear anything, only when they took it apart they noticed the loose clips, but looks like I missed the part where you mentioned "hear it still despite headrest removed from vehicle" In that case, there are also reports of it coming from the headliner or sunroof but mainly the headrest though.
