Thank you from a GLC 300 owner
I wanted to stop by and thank you all. This C300 forum saved me $7K.
I have a 2106 GLC 300 with 86K miles. My CEL had been on for a while (22K+). The car still drove okay, but was lacking some quickness. I bought a $20 ODB scanner and it showed two codes: P0299 and P052E. I really didn't find much in the GLC forum, so I went ahead and had my local Mercedes dealer do a $300 diagnostic. They said the turbo and crankcase valve assembly both needed replacing; around $8K. That really got me into digging into these C300 forums:
First, I stumbled upon a thread about the waste gate actuator. I borrowed a vacuum tester from Autozone and, BINGO, found my actuator was bad. A $50 replacement from Amazon and an hour of work, my turbo was fixed!
Then I looked into the crankcase valve issue. I saw a "crazy" thread about how switch motor oil weights fixed some people's P052E issues. I needed an oil change, so what the hell. I went from 0W-40 to 5W-30. Then I cleared the errors.
Three hundred plus miles later, the car is running great and the CEL has not come back on.
Thank you all for posting your experiences. They were invaluable.
