C400/C450/C43 Thermostat Replacement

I know Mercedes sold many C-Classes but every single video or repair site only speaks about the C300 engines replacement Thermostat walk though.
While my car does not seem to have any obvious problem it does not get up to operating power most of time. Meaning it usually gets to 90 but stays at 85 and after some time; I would get the CEL and it would read Thermostat Coolant Under/Over Malfunction.

I did purchase a new Thermostat housing as it's called, since these cars just don't have a basic Thermostat but one that allows the car to heat up fast and cool down fast when needed.

Has anyone replaced their Thermostat housing on the above noted cars?

I tried to do it myself since Mercedes Tech are on strike right now and their not sure how long it will be. It does not look like a hard part to replace but their is so much stuff in the way and I'm not sure what to do to get all that stuff out of the way.

Thanks for your help.

Have not heard of anyone needing a new t-stat on any M276.
That said, i cant see where there would be too many surprises with removing it. Probably need to pull the intercooler and intake manifold to access everything, but im just guessing.

This thread has a good pic of what you are trying to remove.

I've not done it on either of mine, but have you looked into the possibility of a bad temp sensor? My son's car (2005 Ford Explorer) had the exact same problem you're describing, and a $15 sensor fixed it.

The Sensor is on and part of the Thermostat housing so I know that we need to remove the Thermostat housing part. Wish is was easier but there are some parts I just don't know how to remove and I don't want to break anything.
