I ended up installing a new diffuser that has that F1 style brake light. Wasn't planning on making it functional at first but now figured may as well, especially as I have random drivers pull up beside me and politely point out
that my brake light is out. lol
I've found some info where guys hook up to the third brake light but I have a wagon so I'd rather not do that method.
Any insight as to which wires I could splice into at actual brake lights ?
Just run a tap from either brake light. Look up Flexx as he added a light bar on the back of his car and he shows where he got the power for it. You can do the same even with a wagon, you just need to route the wiring to your bumper instead of your rear truck.
I've seen the video, he doesn't really show what each wire does, just shows how he spliced the control box for his dynamic light to the stock harness. I did come across others asking same question in google search but having issues with brake light acting differently depending on car being on/ off or day/night to light works for a little while then doesn't but yeah I figured same thing tap into brake light and done deal.

(W205 2019 C300) Have you tried in the night? Cause my light is running auto, and it does work perfectly fine in the day, pressing brake and it lights on, but in the night it just goes off, pressing brake or anything won't trigger it to turn on.
I ended up disconnecting it on my car, was having similar issues just when I thought I had it figured out it wouldn't work under different condition, never did get it to work properly. have you tried the third brake light? its your best bet unless you have a wagon like me and then its a pain.... I also have the LED lights.
