Hello everyone. I wanted to voice a concern and maybe get insight into an issue I have been having with my Benz. I drive a 2016 C300 sport edition and have noticed this gas smell that has been increasing. Even when the engine is warm, the scent gets noticeably stronger when you rev the engine. I thought it might be a fuel hose line or injector, but I already had the low-pressure and high-pressure lines replaced under warranty in December 2023. I had a low-pressure replacement twice and a high-pressure one recently. There is no gas smell in the cabin, nor does it smell when you open the hood, only near the exhaust. I have to renew my registration soon and have a smog test coming up, so I need to get this fixed, or it won't pass. Dont, want to go to the dealer because they have screwed me over a few times over a few hundred dollars, and every time I complain, nothing is done. I was hoping someone could help me if they had a similar issue. There are no tunes or aftermarket exhaust parts; everything is stock, and I live near the Bay Area. I did want to note that I do see that my pipe is bent where the main exhaust pipe starts to split. y pipe, the left pipe before the muffler, has a dent from when a ladder hit the under part of the car. No accidents, though.
Any help would be appreciated.

Smell of gasoline in the exhaust is typically due to an excessively rich air/fuel ratio. Your engine may be getting too much fuel or not enough air. You may have a blocked air filter, leaking fuel injector, or a defective mass airflow sensor. Near which Bay Area do you live? If here in the SF Bay Area take it to Griffin Motorwerke in Berkeley. They'll get you sorted out.

@superswiss, thanks for the reply; I have soot buildup on the exhaust tailpipe, the chrome end. I replaced the air intake a few weeks ago in January and cleaned the intake hose and box out, and it looked all good. I do live close to Berkeley. I will look at the shop, but I wanted to take a shot at it first. Thanks for the info.
