W205 gearbox question
I’ve recently bought a W205 C200 diesel sport automatic and I’ve noticed a few gearbox quirks.
first is that on cold days the shifting is jerky from 2nd to 3rd (going to try the adaptive reset mentioned in another thread)
the second issue is a bit strange. I’ve noticed when driving slowly it will not shift to 1st gear unless I physically stop. So this results in me arriving at a roundabout, slowing down to 1mph and then pulling off in 2nd. This just doesn’t seem right? If I stop it immediately goes to 1st then changes to 2nd normally.
any ideas?
the first gear “issue” is completely normal and just how it’s designed to operate. First gear is only for getting off the line when you’ve come to a full stop.
As for holding 2nd ger until stop, that's normal.
i have another issue though that I cannot get to the bottom of. Car drives fine during the day then for what ever reason I stop at a junction staying in drive in comfort mode pull away and suddenly it revs upto 2500rpm between gears and won’t go above 3rd. I stop the car, turn off the ignition for 30 secs turn back on and car runs fine again. No engine warning light. Seems to only happen if I’m doing several short journeys in the day and when stop/start is activated.
normal runs to work Monday to Friday no issues at all approx 8 mile round trip.
any ideas would b greatly appreciated.
