c class estate w205
Hi all , just posted in the w204 section as looking at these. New to mercedes and was keen on a 2016-18 estate but have read the engines are unreliable and prone to serious / costly faults. Are there any that are ok? petrol or diesel? Is the m264 a much more reliable engine than the m274.Any other decent engines? I hear its camshafts , pistons and timing chain issues. Do the diesels have these issues as well? Would happily buy a w205 if I didn't have the risk of a costly repair looming. Im looking at 60-80,000 miles used cars....thanks

We have one of those, C200 petrol, with the 2,0 m274 low pressure turbo version. +9 years of ownership from new. 255.000 km and no engine problems. Still on the original chain, waterpump, turbo etc..
I service and repair it myself.
No personal experience with Diesels, but my short advice for Europe spec 4 cyl. petrol versions is : Go for the lower output petrol versions like the C200. No crankcase ventilation issues, unlike the C250 and C300 If you do get this issue, then you can buy and replace the actual faulty part, unlike the other versions, where you have to buy and replace the entire assembly.
Look for one where all three radiators/intercooler are in good condition or ideally have been replaced.
These direct injected m274 engines are designed to run hot, (too hot in my opinion), and a vide range of problems stems from overheating by poor cooling.
Quality of the OE radiators/intercooler is not the best, so reputable aftermarked brands are fine, maybe even preferred..

Do you know if the M264 E15, 1.497 cm³ 135 kW (184 PS) are any good? Present on european C200T estates, from late 2010s.
Thanks
