I have 2020 C 300 4matic 2.0 turbo. I want to install subwoofer in the trunk, but my Audio guy recommended me to upgrade the alternator. He said he can install a 320 amp alternator to make sure the car has enough power for the subwoofer system. Has anybody ever done this before and will this affect the start /stop battery? He states it does not because the car only takes and when it needs it. Does anybody have any advice?

 

You don't need to update the alternation just to install a subwoofer unless you are looking to put in a very big system into the car. If you are installing something that is not big with many big subs, you should be okay.

 

If the subwoofer sucks that much power, point it rearward and propel your car with it (lol).
