What happened to leather ?

Do ANY of the W205 C class cars have leather seats ?
I'm looking for a new car ( C class 2016 +) and none have leather and MOST have split seams in the imitation leather seats.
The W204 cars are the worst.
What is going on with Mercedes?
Are they really cheapening out that much ?

Leather comes in various grades and then there's MB-Tex. I believe the regular W205 C Classes only had the standard leather as an optional option. MB-Tex was standard if I recall correctly. The AMG models have Nappa leather as an option and it was even standard on the 63S. You won't find "cheap", regular C Classes with high grade leather. Gonna have to pay to play. Even the standard leather is quite a downgrade from Nappa leather.

Unbelievable......even a Hyundai Genesis has leather in the low end G70 2.0.
MBtex would be an upgrade for whatever they are using now.
I've had cars with MBtex and it is quite durable....never had a seam split...back in the W124 and W201 days !

Well, base seats are indeed MBTEX though.

It seems there's been a quality issue with MB-Tex in recent history. There were several reports on the forum from what I remember of torn MB-Tex and MB is fixing it under warranty. Maybe new supplier and/or a production issue.

Yep even Honda CR-Vs can be had with (optional) leather, at a lower price and far higher reliability level than any MB. Depends on what you are looking for in an automobile experience.
