W205 C200 Brake Light Warning (Tail Light)
Hi All,
I had a “brake light” warning symbol flash up on the dash (not the brake pad warning) and sure enough my left brake light is only partially illuminated, it looks almost as if there is a backup light that gives at least some illumination. Am I looking at a complete light unit replacement or is there some type of LED bulb replacement option ?

So you’re right, it was bulbs on a mounting plate but the connections had rusted right through and the entire plate required replacement. The car is 8 years old and a slow drip of water every now and then was enough to destroy the panel. I had an auto electrician replace both the plate and the connectors, to be honest I was surprised how cheap it was, £125 with tax, so maybe $160 in US money including labor. I was impressed that the C200 was able to detect the fault and flag it on the display panel.
