The history of this is actually upsetting, and points out why I trust mechanics less than lawyers ...
I was driving my 2016 C300 and kept getting the stop the vehicle but don't turn it off notification. Then I had a less than desirable under the hood noise. Called AAA and had it towed to my local MB dealer. The next day they sent me a message that I had a bad starter and needed a new battery. As this was a new battery only 3 months old with a replacement warranty, I suggested that I bring them a replacement battery which they squawked at. And they told me that the starter was bad. So to the tune of $2000 they replaced the starter and I declined the new $500 battery. Then they sent me a email and said that they got it started and what I needed was a new alternator, a brake job and new tires and an alignment, all of which totaled almost $6,000. So, I told them I would pick it up to which they told me it had to be towed because the alternator issue.
Then a week later I received an email from the service folks reminding me that my C300 still had work to be done, and one of the items was "Starter fuse" for which they wanted to charge me $187.00. The paperwork they gave me when I picked it up said that they had replaced the starter because it was bad and had blown the starter fuse.So now they want to charge me an ungodly amount to change a fuse that should have already been changed?
Flash forward to the present day. I am not completely sure that they actually did change the starter, It doesn't look particularly like a new one. The alternator has been changed with a new one. And the battery has been replaced. Everything works except it won't crank. I am feeling like I will find that they sabotaged something to get me to bring it back which is something that I will never do. Honestly I really don't trust them to look at my car sideways. Bot, that leaves me with a new problem. According to the fuse chart, I should be looking at fuses #111 and 127. While my fuse box does not look exactly like the picture in the fuse layout sheet, all of the installed fuses are good. So, my next question is if I have a relay problem, or worse yet did they pull a relay and leave it out?
Attached is a picture of the under the hood fuse box. Can someone tell me if I am missing a fuse or two and if I am missing a relay? Am I looking in the correct fuse box?
Any other hints will be greatly appreciated.
