c350e jerking from electric to petrol

My hybrid has started to jerk when changing from electric to petrol motor. If I have plenty of charge left it doesn't always do this. Some posts suggest that the starter motor needs replacing. My mechanic sys that the hybrid doesn't have a starter motor since the electric motor starts the petrol engine. Any comments?

Does have a separate starter which also is prone to going bad. Same one as used in other w205 so not special or expensive.
Don't know if it is the reason for the problem you are having.

From what I understand a bad starter can prevent the car from going into electric mode as it thinks it won't be able to start the engine again.

Thanks for that. I checked with a starter motor supplier and was extremely surprised to find that it is only AUD$123.00 for a brand new one, Apparently it is a common size and fits many cars, besides Mercedes.

I think I will purchase one and ask my local mechanic to fit it. It's not much to pay if that is the problem.
