AC Compressor Control Valve replacement
Has anyone replaced the valve?
How difficult is it?
Can it be done without removing the compressor?
Symptoms were AC works sometimes and others it never gets real cold especially in City traffic with lots of idling.
Second time for that car but it is a known issue but we really use AC here on MS Gulf Coast.
Job entails:
Properly Evac system.
Remove crap out of the way to get to Compressor rear.
Unplug Valve
Remove old valve (held in with Snap ring)
Install new Valve and plug in
Put everything back on you took off to get to it.
Vacuum system down and check for leaks
Recharge and test AC.
Due to this system Evac, Vacuum and proper recharge I had Indy do it.
I bought part from FCP the first time and this second time their warranty covered it
Indy charged me about $275 - Basically 1 hour labor + Evac/recharge machine time + a few extra ounces of Refrigerant.
But on my Volvo the compressor can easily be seen and touched from just opening hood on top of engine. It is a FWD car so engine is sideways.
just have to remove some intake duct parts to make space to get valve in and out.
If you do not have EVAC nor Vacuum tools best to let indy do it.
IF compressor underneath might be PIA without lift to do this job.
