Post Using an audio DAC and third party microphone on an Android headunit?

I'm getting a Navifly Qualcom 680 android unit fitted on my w205 this weekend.

The general consensus is the mic sucks on these anroid units so to solve this, is it as simple as buying another third-party AUX mic and using that instead of the standard one provided?

With regards to sound quality itself, I've also seen some people recommend using an Apple DAC or something like the Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter rather than the standard issue box supplied AUX-USB cable. Thought is the drivers within the dac improve the audio quality from the headunit.

So rather than fitting the standard AUX-USB, I'd use a DAC or alternatively use the Sabrent one below and connect an external thrid party mic to it - would that work?
