Question 2019 C300 Dynamic Select Question - Aftermarket Air Ride

Thanks for reading! I recently acquired a very clean 2019 C300 4Matic Sedan (USA) that I want to bag (aftermarket air suspension). Has anyone done this with examples? I promise I have scoured this forum. Also, for anyone that has...how does it impact your dynamic select (selective damping) and did it cause any type of code throws with the car? TIA! If I am stupid and missed a previous thread with this information, please feel free to ridicule me and post a link.

The selective damping suspension in the C300 is independent of DYNAMIC SELECT. The different drive modes do not affect the suspension. For example if you go in to the Individual mode configuration, you'll notice there's no setting for the suspension. The selective damping suspension has two stage dampers with a soft and a firm setting. It automatically selects between them depending on how much body movement is detected. If you corner aggressively for example, regardless of your current drive mode, it will select the firm setting and once you are driving peacefully in a straight line again it will select the soft setting again. You have no manual control over when it does this.

I do not however know where the suspension controller is for the selective damping and whether you get an error code when the current dampers are removed. With the adaptive suspensions that integrate with the DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes, you normally need a bypass module that tricks DYNAMIC SELECT into thinking you still have the stock suspension. Not sure if a similar thing is needed for the selective damping suspension, even though it doesn't integrate with DYNAMIC SELECT.

I’d imagine that any type of factory settings would be rendered useless. On my previous Airlift V2 , the system took care of everything. The dampening on my V2 was controlled by how much pressure were in my bags…mine didn’t have the external dampening knob you’d find on the top of the shock but I see that at least for Airlift they have them now.

User Janusgrimnitz is on Accuair which he mentioned on an older post having dampening shocks.
