W206 C63: Hybrid and 4Matic according to Mr. Moers

Came across this article today:

https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...ll-be-a-hybrid

The Hybridisation I could live with but what do people think of 4Matic+ making it's way to the C63?

I'm all for it. Keep the weight down, give us Drift Mode, and we get the best of both worlds. I'll take a 4.0L V8 Hybrid C73 S 4Matic+ please!

I would LOVE this!

The car already has trouble putting all the power down. I would expect the next C63 to have even more power, which would make this problem worse.

Plus, I drive the car all year round in Toronto and although Snow Tires + RWD "gets the job done", I'm definitely working hard to keep the car going straight in heavy snow. The plus side of driving the car during winter is that you can really kick the tail out with the right foot and have some fun, but sometimes in heavy snow and traffic, you're looking to get from A-B quickly and safely and not looking to hoon it out.

Like Alex said, having drift mode (for fun) and 4matic+ for taking care of business would be great!!!

I'm a little torn on the 4matic+ front. There's just something about the RWD feeling that makes the C63 a joy to drive but I'll admit there are situations where I want to put all the power down without the car trying to kill me

I have some sad news to break though guys, It's very likely we wont be enjoying a V8 Hybrid in the W206, it'll probably be a V6 or Straight 6... (If that is the eventual case, I retract my earlier statement of being able to live with the hybridisation!)

That would be slightly sad and funny.. For Mercedes not to recognize such a following of the c63 and then have the top AMG model be a C53 I6 turbo...

If you want RWD, just drive in drift mode all the time! Problem solved, nothing to be "torn" about.

Because Mercedes is using the same engine in so many models from the C63 up to the AMG GT 4-door etc., I'm pretty sure the engine will still be a V8.

Last Private Lounge it was stated that AMG would attempt to keep V8s going forward, knowing what it meant for it's enthusiasts.. but will be augmented with forced induction along with hybrid tech to satisfy efficiency requirements. There was a slight jab at the current gen M3 that gave up on the NA V8 and made a turbo 6 that sounded like ...donkey. A fake donkey at that.

I wouldn't mind AMG going down displacement but keeping the V8 configuration.

As long as it's still a V8, I don't care what the displacement is or what they do with assisted hybrid power. This 6 cylinder rumor seems really fishy to me since neither the current V6 or the brand new I6 are hand-built AMG engines. AMG would have to develop a standalone 6 cylinder if they want to keep the hand-built mantra going, and it would be really difficult to distinguish it from a C43 which already has a V6.

My guess on the W206 lineup is:

C43/C53: Switch to the new I6 seen in the E53 AMG (possibly with hybrid power in the C53), 4Matic still standard
C63/S: Upgraded/revised version of 4.0L M177 with new 4Matic+
C73/S: Same as C63/S but with hybrid power assist (electric compressor/EQ power boost)

Keep your eye on the AMG GT 4 Door as a lot of this new tech will be trickling down to new and upcoming AMG models.

agreed...honestly 4Matic plus would make the car more drivable.
