New Car Checklist
What should I check before accepting the car? For example,
- Scratches on paint
- USB ports
- Heat and cooling seats
- Touchless trunk open
- Wireless charging
- Sunroof
- Heads-up display
What is susceptible to fail. Assume every option was selected
We do not have a "lemon" law in Canada. It is on the onus of the owner to check.

- a thumping/clanking noise when braking which requires a dealer visit
- the main MBUX screen turning off randomly (maybe a software update will fix, hard to test upon receipt of the car)
- ensure the dealer installs the SAM module cover as there is already an open recall for 2022 w206s which requires a dealer retrofit

My VIN did not appear on the recall list and shipped after August so I'm hoping it is resolved, but I'll check with the dealership.
For example, all Canadian models start at (equivalent to) 4Matic Pinnacle + panoramic roof, acoustic glass, adaptive cruise control, advanced USB packaging, rear side-impact airbags, first-aid kit, etc.
I appreciate the warning.
I'm not expecting 2023 models to be any different than a rebranded 2022. Mine was shipped from Germany so considering the model was released in Europe in early 2021, I'm hoping most manufacturing issues have been ironed out.
