2022 S580 4-Matic 2015 SLK350
I'm having the same issue with my S580 that I bought in October. I started about a month after I got the car. The dealer ordered the new modifiec cover, but they still don't have it and it's now April 5. The car alerts about every 15 minutes that the functions aren't working and it's a pain in the ***. They are telling me the covers are scheduled to come in May 10. Mercedes is cranking out multiple S-Class sedans every day in Germany with the same system on them. Why is it so difficult to get parts for "The best or nothing" that they've already produced?

I had my windscreen camera hood replaced last July it was alright for a couple of months but than the "dirty camera" message started appearing again. After much arguement the dealers finally admitted 2½ years after reporting it, the camera was faulty and they replaced it last April, it has been OK since. Also I am now on my 5th battery and the car is not yet 3 years old. This has been a sobering experience and has shown Mercedes in a bad light for both design, construction and maintenace staff.

Another option is to have the windshield replaced with the latest version. My 2021 windshield camera triangles did not have the lines (heating elements) within them (which is used to actually demist the condensation created by the excess temperatures of the cameras) along with the camera hood (which is actually the camera system) change. The word hood kinda depicts the plastic cover, yet in-fact it is the entire camera assembly replacement.

DONS550,
I have lines in my camera triangles (photo)...along with a wiring harness, but I thought that piece would be re-used for a windshield replacement. Your telling me these get replaced as part of the windshield? Or, perhaps you might be describing a heated wire embedded in the glass? You lost me!
I took this whole assembly apart and cleaned the foggy glass and put everything back...and it seems to be OK, but I don't want to do this every year. My dealer says that a completely new camera design solves the foggy glass issue (somehow I guess) and the lens/cover, which apparently are as scarce as hen's teeth, can be swapped over...and the whole problem goes away.

The lines in the triangles are part of the windshield. I had my original windshield (without the lines) replaced by a later version windshield that came with the lines. The lens covers don’t get replaced it’s the entire camera unit, made of metal and showing both camera eyes, is what gets replaced. I used to have to clean at least once a month.
