Digital Light, missing menu options
I don’t know where you post from, but certain markets or regions like Europe have the blue inserts, here in US we only get the ones with the orange markers.
Orange markers are mandatory here in US on the front of the car (and red on the back).
Mercedes decided to install them inside the headlights.

The car is fitted with Digital Light, but it seems to me that I am missing a lot of the Digital Light functionality - and my "LIGHT" menu seems to be missing a few options too.
I do have the 43U option on my car - Digital Light with animated projektion.
This is the menu in my car (yes, I know it is in Danish
)
This is the menu for another C-Class (A 300e though) - and as you can see, there are more options.
Is this a software issue on my car, or am I missing something!?
https://rjautomotive.net/products/di...ction-function
- Premium Package: Digital Light
- Premium Plus Package: Digital Lights with Projection function
We will see anyways what will be the answer. In the meantime I would really love to hear if someone had the same issue and solved somehow without coding outside of MB itself.
Options 43U, 42U, and 316 are on the spec sheet.
Does anyone know what's up or how to resolve this?

"Thank you for contacting Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras. I am more than happy to assist you with providing information regarding the 42U Warning and Information Symbols feature you are no longer able to access. I understand how important it is to have access to all of the Digital Extras available to your vehicle.
After reviewing your concern, I can confirm that the feature associated with option 42U (Warning and Information Symbols on the Roadway) was previously linked to Traffic Sign Assist functionality. This feature is no longer supported following recent software updates, which is why you are not seeing these symbols in your display."
So, Mercedes sold me an option, I paid for that option, and they removed that option without warning me? wtf

I have digital lights on my 63SE as well and the only thing that's good for is the blind spot warning since I don't have traffic sign assist to begin with. was debating if I should just pay to unlock the Traffic Sign assist.
I also just realize the MB Me app is free for 1 year only unlike my previous 3 BMWs.

Then I went to pick up my car. They informed that Digital Lights should be working now. I asked if I have to purchase from the App but they couldn’t answer. I anyways checked the system and my menu did seem still the same: no option for Welcome Animations and also for projection. I then did activated the Digital Light Projection package. (There’s a free trial month) However it is still not activated. When I check it from the Store in my car, it seems still that it is gonna be prepared and be activated. It’s been more than a day but it’s still not active. I hope it will be activated and will be available. I will wait in the worst case till end of January. I have another appointment and will ask once more there.

I am a happy customer of a C300e (W206) from 12/2021 stationcar, based in Denmark. The car has almost all possible extras, among which Digital lights with projection function. The codes are from the Danish dealer P. Christensen who extracted the spec sheet for me. In there you will see that the car is equipped with all possible hardware for the Digital lights and has the following codes, which cover all possible options (symbols, animations, etc):
- 318 HEADLIGHT UNIT DIGITAL LED LIGHT SYSTEM RHT
- 30U PROJECTION FUNCTION VIA HEADLIGHT
- 42U PROJECTION FUNCTION VIA HEADLIGHT - SYMBOLS
- 43U PROJECTION FUNCTION VIA HEADLIGHT - ANIMATION
I purchased this car from Germany, where it was originally manufactured for the German market, driven there by a private person and then I imported it to Denmark 2 months ago. However, I have noticed that I have never seen so far any projections coming from the Digital Lights. This is similar to what @LarsB has also been reporting.
For example, there should be projections on the road, when there are road works, upcoming Stop sign or traffic light, also city function of the digital lights that lit up wider part of the road depending on how much I turn the steering wheel, etc. The only feature I have seen is the road signs on high ways being lit up, but never any projections on the road. None of this works.
Furthermore, even in my Mercedes Me app (see screenshot) it says that upon start I should be able to see/choose a "Digital Rain" animation, but this is not the case and the animation upon start is just some lights crossing each other, however with my specs and model, this should be available and also it shows on the video that this is a feature of Digital Lights (see video link
The car does have the latest possible MBUX (RL_NTG7_E505.404_24441AC3) for this model installed 1 month ago in Denmark, by Ejner Hessel. All the toggles are also activated in the actual car under the "lights" menu and "Digital lights" section. I also always drive with the "automatic high beam" option turned on next to the activated low beam green icon.
So I have noticed that on the high way when the digital lights get activated, the high beam icon becomes blue and the traffic signs get this extra light beam on them, which makes them very bright.
So I am a bit puzzled why are my Digital Lights not working as advertised and with all the functionalities that they carry from a hardware and software perspective.
I spoke with Ejner Hessel (one of the Danish dealers) on the phone but they could not answer and did not know as they were very puzzled. They told me that the projection function of digital lights is forbidden in Denmark, but could not answer to me which parts are then allowed? Also my challenge to them was that the car was manufactured for the Germany market where all of this is allowed, incl. all types of projections, so does the car "automatically" turn off these features because it assess based on the GPS that it is Denmark? This sounds to me very strange and unlikely. Similar to @LarsB I am wondering could it be that my Digital lights are "an older version", even though to me this should not matter if the software and hardware codes enable all these functions Or is it because my MBUX was updated to the latest version here in a Danish dealership - Ejner Hessel, hence some local Danish restrictions apply?
They told me that they need to look at the car in a workshop, but I would like to understand first from you what is the issue here...as I would like to avoid now paying them money just for "the time" and then not get it resolved. The car has a still a full warranty from Mercedes-Benz Germany (MB-100), covering also Denmark (all of EU), so if there is any software or smth on those Digital lights have that to be updated, I assume those will be covered but I want to first understand what is happening here and how can I get all the functionality those lights offer actually working in real life.
@LarsB , could we perhaps connect on the phone? I am in Copenhagen so please feel free to drop me your phone number in a PM and would love to exchange notes on this topic with you.
