Twice in the last 30 days, while backing out of my garage onto my driveway the car slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason. I walked around the car to ensure there was nothing there and I do not backup onto the street. Has anyone had similar issues? If I take it to the dealership I am assuming they won't find any saved alerts since this is intermittent.

Is your driveway slanted compared to your garage? These cars are low and if there is a sizable angle in your driveway the car might mistake it for an object you are about to hit.
I had the same thing with mine and Mercedes was never able to fix it. However, I have turned off Close Range Braking in the settings of the car and that seems to help.

Have had this happen several times. I too have turned off the Close Range Braking.

I had to change a similar setting when it braked for me a few times while making a controlled sudden move on the highway, it was dangerous as I almost got rear-ended once due to it.

You mean the setting for Automatic Braking for Early, Normal/Moderate, and Late?
I checked and the setting I adjusted a while back for aggressive auto brake was changing Automatic Braking to "Late". However, the bug while backing up, I see no setting called "Close Range Braking", what am I missing?
Incidentally, today as I was backing up I heard a ding and saw a Red Triangle flash right about where this dumb system auto brakes, then it disappeared. So back to square one with a crappy "MBeX"

A red triangle displaying on the backup image signals your car is auto-braking.
It means that either back radars have detected an object to hit or the camera itself has detected a moving person/object.
I have had 2 instances of slamming on brake backing straight out of a driveway. Felt like I hit a wall. Also two instances of sudden braking going forward on a town road. Not going quickly either time. Will try to find the brake setting to change. Where do I find it?

Did you get this fixed or figured out yet?? I'm having the same issue and I'll be taking my car to the dealership on Monday.
When my car wouldn't start (see my other post) I took it to the dealership and they found some software updates waiting for my car. One was a recall (software update) for Driving Assistance and the other was an update for the rear SAM module. They told me that this could possibly fix my phantom braking issue as well since they couldn't find anything else. It has not happened since.

Just experienced the phantom braking while city driving. Thank god nobody was behind me.

I was told my car was never taken out of transport mode. Apparently,the car get shipped in transport mode and the dealer is supposed to turn this off as part of the vehicle prep for customers. I've only had it back now for a few days but no issues so far.

Hmmm that couldn't be it because if it is in that mode the car will prompt you occasionally if not every time, you can't miss it.
That's strange, I was never prompted over the last 8 months since I took delivery. Something isn't adding up, not sure what if anything I should do about it. I'll wait to see if the problem happens again.

They might had lied and found something else either way I guess as long as they fixed it then it is all good. Another possibility is maybe the W206 doesn't prompt, the prompt is true on older MBs and I wasn't sure if the W206 prompts as well. That said, EQS prompts as well.
Jeff, what does your invoice from the dealer say? It should itemize everything that was done, that is how they get reimbursed for their labor under warranty.

And that was it.
That is super strange... Another thing is if your car was in transport mode you can't even drive past a certain speed, it wouldn't let you, that is the point of the transport mode after all plus the height of the vehicle is raised (on some models).
Overzealous proximity sensors causing it to brake abruptly.
This exact issue happened to my wife's 2019 Golf.
At that time I still have my W205. IMO it was one of the best after the 204.
I have had it abruptly braking while driving in traffic.
And yes, in my own driveway and in the garage.
To prevent it, drive SUPER SLOW, like under 10km/hr or 6mph.
When it is near an object (according to mbux), an option will pop up on multimedia screen to turn off Speed limition.
Do that a few times and it will safe to your profile. The next time it gets near on object (like in the garage), it would not brake abruptly but popup the message for you to turn off speed limiter.
But other than that, braking system on this 206 is NOT Linear. It is SOFTWARE controlled with inputs from the radar, proximity sensors and cameras. Got to be aware when there are cars around 4 sides, mbux gets nervous.
Happened again yesterday, hard brake like I hit something while backing out of my garage for no reason. At this point I am dealing with so many glitches on this car that I am overwhelmed.
Turning off Close-range Braking helped mine, although for some reason the whole MBUX system resets itself after a while and all the settings in the car are changed back to default. The main computer and head unit have already been replaced in my car, but this problem (among a vast list of other software glitches) still exists. So keep an eye on the settings every few days.
