Dashcam "Device is too slow"
My factory dashcam function is set to Loop Recording, which automatically starts every drive of the car, and will overwrite the oldest recording when the flash drive gets full. I have an inexpensive (~$10) 128GB USB-C drive for this purpose.
I get the titled error sometimes, and have determined that it happens when the flash drive gets full. I find myself wondering if it's the cheapo drive itself or some issue with MBUX. This only happens every few weeks, so it's not a huge issue, but it is annoying when you're driving down the road and get the error.
Anyone have any thoughts?

My dealer gave me that adapter cable at delivery. I didn't want that flopping around in the well so I bought a USB-C flash drive. I did buy USB-C to lightning cables for our phones and two for back seat passengers (which will be pretty rare, but I'm a nice guy ). Looks like future iPhones will be USB-C, though (thanks Europe!), so I'll have to buy new cables when we replace ours, whenever that is.

It's very likely your cheapo flash drive. The write speed is probably too low. Also just because it's USB-C doesn't mean it supports a fast USB 3 connection. It may only be USB 2. You have to look at the specs. I haven't looked, but the owner's manual may specify the required specs for the flash drive to use. Often devices have specific minimum requirements for write speed. An HD video feed requires a certain bandwidth.

Great info on this thread!
One concern I had was leaving a thumb drive plugged in and getting in the way when accessing the center console. The Samsung drive looks like the smallest physical size but doesn't it still get in the way? Would be nice if fast compact sized drives that use a cable could rest in the small cubby in the console but typically those cables are too short.
Also, approximately how quickly does a 128GB drive get filled up?

128gb can only hold up to 1 hour of footage.
I'm encountering the same issue and I'm using the USB A to USB C adapter provided by Mercedes. My guess is that the adapter is only 3.0 compatible although my USB is 3.1, which is lowering the speed of the drive. I'm going to change the cable to see if it resolves it.

PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)
MB is pretty particular with the size of the drive and the file format.

Or maybe I am just thinking too much and it was actually because of bugs/glitches introduced in the update?

I have this memory stick Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C USB Flash Drive 64GB USB Gen 3 Type-C and Type-A - DTDUO3CG3/64GB https://amzn.eu/d/bKRbxIV
I was getting the same error on average every couple of hours or so. Looking at the reviews the write speed isn’t the best so that might be the cause.
However here in the uk it doesn’t start automatically and with the poor quality I fitted a fitcamx dashcam instead.

I use the below-linked 256GB Samsung device. It's quite small and fits in the armrest storage console USB port quite nicely. It's also screaming fast, so we stopped getting the "too slow" errors we got with other drives.

Fine until update
I too was having zero issues until the update. Now it seems no matter what I use I get the “device to slow” message. Anyone else having this issue and possible fix?
