Ring Dashcam

I was curious if anyone else was told the following information when taking your car in for service having multiple issues with the car.

I was having the same issues prior to buying the Ring Dashcam for my car. I was told you cannot have a Ring Dashcam plugged into the OBD or the USB-C port. My car doesn't have any other ports, like the power cigarette lighter type. I called Mercedes directly to troubleshoot some stuff and asked them about this, and they said that shouldn't cause any issues. I am trying to understand that a car is faulty because of a Ring Dashcam? Interesting part is, my parents have one in their Mercedes and there are no issues at all.

Just trying to get some feedback because I am confused and believe I am being lied to.

I have one and may be able to provide some information, but your post is very vague. What "multiple issues" are you having?

Many issues going on, I will list a few below. This stuff happens while I am driving and honestly, getting very tired of this. They cannot duplicate the issue when they take it in the shop, and obviously not as it happens on drives randomly. They keep the car for a day and say nothing is found. Well no kidding they cannot find it, takes driving the car on normal basis. I have videos and pictures though, which should be more than enough reason for them to dig into this and find out why it is happening. Been in the shop now 5 times, going in for a 6th since it is just a matter of time for it to happen again. Meanwhile, they keep putting on another 50-60 miles on my car each time.
  • Car brakes on its own for no reason at all
  • Mirrors folding in while driving
  • Active emergency stop assist currently unavailable
  • Active brake assist function currently limited

Are you sure you don't have a cigarette style lighter? Mine has one under tucked under the glovebox to the left. Took me weeks to notice it! I do not have the advanced USB package but have two extras ports in the console before the shortage happened.

Well thank you for that, I did find one there to use. Really appreciate the feedback. Not even the Mercedes technicians knew this. Which I find very annoying..

I have the Dashcam plugged into OBD port (the only place you can, not USB-C or Cig lighter). Dealership has not advised against it. The phantom braking is a bug and you need to go into drivers assistance setting and disable this "feature". Dealership also applied several updates to remedy this. I had many more severe issues , faults and warnings than you did and the fix was a combination of replacing some electronic hardware and applying software updates. It took many visits though and I was closing in on a Lemon Law claim.

My entire safety stuff keeps malfunctioning and they do not know how to fix it. They keep blaming it on the Dashcam, even though it wasn't even in the car when all the issues started and unplugged since. Seems like they just keep trying to blame something that doesn't even have anything to do with it. As for disabling a feature I specifically wanted and needed is not an option. I travel a lot and I bought the car with the extra driving safety features that I cannot use? I am about to go back a 6th time now for the same reasons. They can never duplicate it because they don't drive the car like me on a normal basis. I have videos and pictures and take them as much as I can when driving around.

Sadly, I have read that this is an issue with the C300 - 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 models. They cannot seem to find out what is wrong or what caused it. Also, they found 47 errors they cleared from my car the 3rd time I took it in and still no fix. I just don't know other than I have lost complete confidence in this car at this point. It is honestly driving me to get a BMW of Maserati at this point.

I feel your pain. You will need to disable it until they find a fix for it, because in the meantime the safety feature is a hazard. I was almost rear ended twice.

Walk into the dealership and request they connect the car to XENTRY, search for, and install updates. Often, dealers won't even bother checking for a software update if there is no recall issued. This is very unfortunate since MB makes it fully automated for dealers once they connect to OBD and check for updates.

If they refuse, go to settings and find your software version called NTG7...... claim it is out of date (I can guarantee you it actually is) and do not walk away until a software update is carried out.

Update from before:

Legal counsel has been retained. Once I am allowed, I will post results.

Thanks, I will check for that update, but I do believe the service papers of the most recent service of 32 days straight in the shop shows something in reference to an update, but that still didn't fix the issues.
