What does Priority 1 mean?

Hi

so I think my 2025 C300 is close to coming in because my dealer told me they had it marked priority 1. Can someone explain what that means? I didn’t ask. Been waiting for it to get here from “on the water” for almost 3 weeks now.

thank you everyone!!

Priority 1 means a sold order. Cars that are ordered specifically for customers get Priority 1, whereas cars that just go into dealer inventory get a lower priority. They process customer orders first. Sounds like the car was originally ordered for inventory and has now been turned into a customer order, so it gets processed ahead of all the other inventory cars.

thank you!!! You are very helpful and I appreciate your responses!! Not sold yet just have my deposit down on it. They are just trying to get it to me since it was their error negotiating for a different car that was under contract with another buyer. So they found this car for me that’s was on its way here.

"Sold order" is the term used for a custom order placed on behalf of a customer. Doesn't mean it's actually sold yet.

thsbk you. Last question, if they placed it in priority 1, does that mean it’s at the port or almost there? Sorry for sending many questions as this is first time I had to wait 3 weeks for a car.

Nope, doesn't mean anything for now. Normally a sold order is priority 1 from the very beginning, so that it is prioritized at every stage. From getting allocated to production, to parts picking to the actual production, shipping etc. it'll get ahead of all the lower priority orders. For example if there's a parts shortage, the priority 1 get the parts first that are still available and then are first again when parts become available later. Similarly, the car will be prioritized at the ports and the VPC.

Assuming your car is on the water, it will get preferred treatment once it reaches Long Beach and goes through customs and the VPC. It'll be ahead of all the other cars will lower priority and will be among the first to be picked up for transport to your dealership. If it's still sitting at the port in Germany, then it should get priority for being loaded onto the next vessel. Obviously the journey over the ocean is gonna take the same time regardless of the priority. You just gonna have to sit tight and wait until the car gets here. It takes 10-15 weeks for a car to reach a West Coast dealer once production is done.
