hybride dynamic select options..

Hello!

I've had two questions since I bought my C300E (W206).

1. When I start the car in hybrid mode in the morning, the gasoline engine stays off. But if I press the accelerator too hard while driving, the gasoline engine kicks in and revs immediately, up to 3,000 rpm or more. Isn't this harmful to the engine or its longevity?

2. Is there an option to drive with the gasoline engine and electric motor (i.e., full power mode) without using sport mode? I find myself putting it in sport mode because I want to drive with all the power the car has. However, I find it annoying that you can't adjust the transmission in sport mode. It shifts too late and is very jerky. I know this often happens in sport mode, but it's the only mode where the engine doesn't shut off every time.

I hope someone knows a solution.

Sincerely,

That's been a continuous point of contention with hybrids, that the engine doesn't have time to warm up before it potentially needs to deliver full power. 3000 rpm or so isn't anything a cold engine can't handle, though. What you wanna avoid is going full throttle with the engine still cold. There's been a lot of science going into the oil formulations for hybrid cars to ensure the engine is lubricated properly with the generally lower engine temperatures. It's not just when the engine first starts, but also when it later turns off, it starts cooling down, so in general, the operating temperature of the engine in a hybrid is lower on average than in a full ICE. Below is a good video on the topic.

Sport mode is the only way to keep the engine always on. Unfortunately you can't control the transmission separate from the engine mapping, so with engine in Sport, the transmission is in Sport as well. You can use the Individual mode to keep other things in comfort such as the suspension if you have adaptive suspension, but the engine and transmission mapping are one setting.
