Hi All,

My 2023 W206 C300 does not have the oem charger pad which apparently has something to do with usage or at least programming of the digital key option. If I buy and install the OEM charger pad in the center console will that also make a digital key possible? I've attached a list of all of my car's options.

Even if you install the OEM hardware inside the cupholder area for the charging pad, beware that it might not work until MBUX/computer is programmed to enable this functionality. When wireless charging or NFC pairing occurs (like for the mobile key), icons are displayed in the central screen which indicates some data transfer between the charger and car computer. I am not sure if it plug and play, so some advice to keep in mind.

Digital key is not yet available in c and glc models in the USA, it keeps getting delayed. Some have had luck with getting their dealer to update MBUX which unlocks a digital key menu in the car, but the mobile app does not yet support pairing so it's useless.

Thanks 818!! I figured there would be some sort of programming. Digital key would be a nice back up but isn't essential for me. If I find the OEM module on a deal, I'll probably grab one but I'm definitely not in a rush.

No, it won’t. Smart phone key require a dedicated module(A000 900 7350) and an MY25 gateway/electronic ignition. Three additional antenna located in A pillar and rear pillar. And you need the option code 896, so Mercedes Me app will realize you car have mobile key and allow enrollment.(and btw, adding permanent option code is NEAR impossible right now unless you have solid connections)
you may or may not need a new driver door handle that support NFC as well.


the above is in theory from me reading the WIS and EPC.
Now in practice, I have added OEM wireless charging pad to my car and have it programmed via SCN(which means permanent option code 897 was also added) and simply doing this added nothing.it support pairing Bluetooth to car via nfc, that’s it.

I have bought all the parts for my MY23, and was planning on attempting a retrofit, but the commitment is very very real. Basically have to rip the entire interior of the car apart and run a bunch new wires, not for the light hearted. To me it’s worth it because in my mind mobile phone key is the difference between a 2015- car and a 2020+ car. MB should have shipped w206 with mobile phone key at the first model year.
