Easy power, less strain on the engines which means less warranty claims. Turbos run off of exhaust pressure(which is free power) and s/c's are belt driven which take power and add strain to an engine to make power.

This question was asked to the head of AMG at the AMG preview night at the LA Auto Show. His response - paraphrasing - "more horsepower, more torque and vastly improved fuel economy" (relative to a high performance vehicle).
And the fuel econonmy IS important to AMG as it allows them to stay in the game in this world of high gas prices. Now whether is matters to the typical AMG owner might be another story....
